Necks for bass clarinets and basset horns

For bass clarinets with German system

Our newly designed neck has, due to its new measurements, the greatest influence on the instrument’s sound and intonation. We offer adaptations for instruments by other manufacturers that have the second register key build on the neck.

For bass clarinets with French system

The Blashaus (Switzerland) offers necks for Buffet Prestige and Buffet Tosca, as well as Selmer Privilege models. For the last 20 years, they have been studying bass clarinets in-depth and eventually created their own bass clarinet necks which are reinforced and bulkier. If you would like to learn more about their clarinet necks, please visit www.blashaus.ch.

Furthermore, we recommend our newly developed b flat mechanism for subsequent installation: A smaller sleeve in the register tone hole is being complemented by an additionally installed b flat resonance hole. Thereby the E/B’ and F/c’’ intonation is being significantly improved. This improvement has been developed by Jochen Seggelke and Martin Suter from Das Blashaus (Read more here.) and can be installed in Bamberg as well as in Luzern. Please expect a processing time of about two weeks and be prepared to collect your instrument personally.

Basset horn

For the connection between upper joint and mouthpiece, we have developed our own utility model. The mouthpiece is inserted into a wooden barrel which is connected to the basset horn’s upper joint by an angled joint, the so-called ‘knee’ (utility model protection No. 200 10 855.0). The addition of the wooden knee greatly improves the acoustic appeal as well as the sound and reduces the formation of condensation noticeably.

Simply by changing the barrel, adjusting the pitch is possible. This combination can be adapted to fit all instruments, regardless of the manufacturer.
